Texas League of Young Voters Education Fund Files Motion in Federal District Court to Intervene in Texas’s Discriminatory Photo ID Lawsuit
HOUSTON, Texas, March 20, - Yesterday, the Texas League of Young Voters Education Fund and a group of Black college students at Prairie View A & M and Texas Southern universities, represented by the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., filed a motion to intervene in a lawsuit to prevent the implementation of a discriminatory photo ID law, and to defend the constitutionality of the Voting Rights Act. These are all phrases that could be heard at the February training for the Texas League Fellows in Houston. We came together to learn how to make local change by empowering our peers and building smart campaigns.
Christina Sanders, state director of the Texas League of Young Voters, along with her team, did an amazing job with breaking down the information that was presented to the Fellows.
