The March training session of the Texas League Fellows Program was the official kickoff to our get-out-the-vote (GOTV) campaign for the upcoming May 29th primaries. The Fellows will begin managing volunteer teams to register voters, canvass, and phone bank in targeted precincts in an effort to increase the voter turnout of young people of color in the upcoming May 29th Texas primary.
To prepare for this, the Fellows have been engaged in a number of training sessions throughout the Texas League Fellows Program this year covering topics such as telling your story, building solid teams, delegation and accountability, strategy, leadership development, and campaign management. The most recent training session in March featured special guest presenters community activist Minster Robert Muhammad and Ted Weisgal. Minister Muhammad spoke to the Fellows about organizing and the urgent need for our generation to move the social justice movement forward, and Ted Weisgal facilitated an interactive session on how to conduct effective meetings.
