Nevada League Speaks to Young People at William U. Pearson Community Center

Krysten Clark and Carey Jenkins of Atlanta spoke to young people at the William U. Pearson Community Center, a project of the Las Vegas Urban League, about the importance of the Census. The William U. Pearson Community Center offers programs for employment, community economic development, youth initiatives and education, and health and wellness.

Nevada League Hosts 2010 “Numbers Don’t Lie” Census Panel Discussion

Nevada League’s Krysten Clark facilitated a panel discussion at West Las Vegas Library on March 15 about the 2010 Census and its impact on the communities of Las Vegas and greater Nevada area.

Speakers at the panel discussion included Diane Ireland, the African American partnership specialist for the United States Census Bureau, Aggie Ureno, the Latino partnership specialist for the United States Census Bureau, County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly (pictured above), Las Vegas Ward 5 Councilman, Ricki Y. Barlow (pictured above), Anthony Springer Jr., District Representative for the Office of Congresswoman Dina Titus and Dina Neal of the NAACP Education Committee (pictured above).

Las Vegas, NV – In 2010, LYVEF began investing resources into local organizers who focus on economic and social justice issues, as well as nonpartisan voter registration, GOTV, election protection and election administration. Krysten Clark was hired on in February as our Nevada State Based Representative to ramp-up our civic engagement and Census activities.

Krysten Clark is a journalist for TheWellVersed.com. Her work has also appeared on Black Entertainment Television/BET Centric, HipHopDX.com, JENESIS Magazine and the Las Vegas-Review Journal. Krysten currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada and is a student at Colorado State University pursuing a degree in Public Management.
